Sailing Shack is a blog on sailing and specifically about the passion for sail boat racing my family and I have. The main contributors to the blog are myself Rob Hartnett and my sons Ben(14) & Finn (10).
Sailing Shack is where sailboat racing lives. More specifically it is about racing and our racing program and all the stuff we find cool about sailing.
I have sailed since aged 8 and have raced one design dinghy, one design keelboat, sportsboats and offshore (although I much prefer spending the night in a real bed rather than a bunk). I have raced overseas and count a world championship in the J-24 class as one of my achievements. Enough about history. Currently I am racing a Laser (again!) and Ben races a Laser 4.7, Finn and Lachie are in Opti’s. We sail mainly from Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club and Sandringham Yacht Club in Melbourne Australia.
My wife Leisa Hartnett was a yachting photographer and published in Australian Sailing, Australian Yachting, Classic Boat and the Herald-Sun and many of the pics in the blog are from Leisa.
“Fair dinkum Rob”, when do you sleep?
